Def Jam NY Takeover Fighting is a free-to-play action game by Jumming Mission. This is an unofficial mobile port of Def Jam Fight For NY, the 2006 PlayStation Portable title that in itself is a port of another Def Jam game. In this fighting RPG, you play as a nameless upstart in the underground street fighting scene.

Fight to take the Five Boroughs

As mentioned, Def Jam NY Takeover Fighting puts you in the shoes of a nameless protagonist. Like the other versions of this game, it has limited character creation capabilities—and only male characters can be made. As the sequel to Def Jam Vendetta, your character becomes entangled with franchise characters such as O.G., Crow, and D-Mob. Following the story, you fight multiple opponents before getting to the surprising ending.

The game lets you choose from one of five fighting styles, each designed to create a unique gameplay experience. Also, while a more recent port, it’s still based on the 2004 Fight for NY. As such, it still sports some of the celebrity guests’ outdated looks from the original releases, including those for Busta Rhymes as Magic Magic or Ludacris as himself.

Other than that, this is a pretty enjoyable game. Enjoy one-on-one matches in secretive and highly exclusive locations. While this version no longer has the fully voiced cutscenes, it managed to keep the soundtrack — something that has been a core element of the Def Jam franchise over the years. Also, keep an eye out for the massive roster of rappers appearing in the game.

It feels like an emulated game, which ensures that all content from the 2006 PSP release is present here.
